Mumtaz Bhutto merges SNF with PML-N
RATODERO: Former Sindh Chief Minister Mumtaz Ali Bhutto as Chairman of Sindh National Front (SNF) on Wednesday announced its merger with PML-N in presence of its Chief Nawaz Sharif and vowed to continue struggle.
Addressing big rally at his hometown Rato Dero, Mumtaz Bhutto, who is cousin of PPP Founding Chairman and former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto said his views and that of Nawaz Sharif were closer.
He accused President Asif Ali Zardari of being involved in corruption.
Mumtaz Bhutto contended that the federating units were still deprived of their due rights despite the passage of 18th Constitutional amendment.
The SNF, an important nationalist organization, has been striving for confederation system based on Pakistan Resolution of 1940.
Mumtaz Bhutto declared that they were now part of PML-N and would struggle under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif. The PML-N chief however in his address at the convention said, "Mumtaz Bhutto is a seasoned politician and we consider him as our leader. We have merged with him".
Nawaz and other central leaders of PML-N had arrived at Mirpur Bhutto on Tuesday where they held important meeting with Mumtaz Ali Bhutto on future line of action about anti-government movement.
Sources close to Mumtaz Bhutto told that the meeting between the two leaders continued for about three hours till mid-night.
PML-N leaders Senator Pervez Rasheed, Illahi Bux Soomro, Syed Gaus Ali Shah, Syed Mamnoon Hussain, Salim Zia and Marvi Memon while Ameer Bux Bhutto, Ayub Shar, Hassan Mahmood Amroti and Anwar Gujar of defunct SNF were present in the meeting.
Sources said Nawaz Sharif assigned Mumtaz Bhutto all the matters related to Sindh and assured him free hand to take any decision.
Mumtaz Ali Bhutto would soon start contacting anti-government politicians, parties and nationalist organizations for mustering their support as decided in last night's meeting. (PPI)
