Gilani will pay price for standing with Zardari* PML-N president says Zardari is responsible for mess
JACOBABAD/GARHI KHERO: Nawaz Sharif, president of his own faction of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), on Tuesday said Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani would face the music for standing with President Asif Zardari.
Addressing a public gathering, he said, “You (PM Gilani) chose to stand by President Zardari, now face the music because it is now too late for you to do anything to help yourself,” Nawaz said hours after the Supreme Court announced its detailed verdict against the PM in contempt of court case.
Nawaz said, “Gilani should have resigned when the apex court announced short order on April 26 and convicted him. He has violated the constitution,” he added.
The PML-N chief said, “In foreign countries if an allegation is levelled against a premier or a minister, they resign on moral grounds, but Gilani refuses to write letter and does not resign, continuously ridiculing the superior judiciary.”
Referring to the PM’s scheduled meeting with the British PM in the UK, he said it embarrassed him how they would think about Pakistani PM when they come face to face with him.
Nawaz said a letter had to be written to Swiss authorities to bring back $60 million as the money belonged to the people of Pakistan.
“If Gilani goes, next premier would have to write letter to Swiss authorities,” he declared. He said despite four tenures in power, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) had miserably failed to serve the poor people. The PPP government had plunged the country into pessimism and corruption while its rulers staked the sovereignty of the country, he added.
“Pakistan is today isolated. God forbid the manner in which Zardari is ruling, Pakistan might be doomed,” he added.
Expressing his sympathies with natives in the PPP’s constituency, he blamed Zardari for putting the public into such appalling state.
He said that he was not visiting Sindh for getting votes but wanted to get information about the plight of people living in PPP-dominated constituencies.
“Zardari has done great injustice to Sindhi people. After accord with Benazir Bhutto, I offered agreement for cooperation with Zardari without any concerns,” he added.
“Not even a katcha house was made for poor, no school or teacher for their children, no hospital and no employment opportunities for the people of Sindh,” he lamented.
“I have no desire for power or wish to govern the country. All I want is the welfare and prosperity of the people of Pakistan,” he said. agencies
