Zardari steps in to resolve crisis

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday ordered effective measures to end unscheduled load shedding and said that, if need be, a central control room be set up in the Water and Power Ministry for the purpose. Chairing a meeting on the ongoing power crisis, Zardari expressed his displeasure over increase in unscheduled power cuts in different parts of the country. The president said there was need for coordination at all levels to deal with the problem. Water and Power Minister Naveed Qamar briefed the president about reasons behind prolonged load shedding. Petroleum Minister Dr Asim Hussain also gave a briefing on the supply of furnace oil and gas to power plants. app
