PML-F, PPP vow to strengthen democracy together

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah meet Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) chief and spiritual leader of Hurs, Pir Pagara, Pir Sadruddin Shah Rashdi at the Kingri House on Thursday. Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister Imtiaz Shaikh was also present.
Both the leaders had a meeting and discussed political situation in detail. They also discussed issues pertaining to differences created due to some misunderstandings of a statement and it was decided that both the parties would jointly work for strengthening the democracy in the country, while the issues if any, confronted to the Sindh province, would be resolved amicably.
Later talking to media persons, the chief minister said with regard to a statement of a Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) minister about Pir Pagara, the matter was clarified, while sometimes misunderstanding created difference but there was no such situation here. “The misunderstandings have been resolved and both parties will work together and efforts of some miscreant elements will be foiled,” he added. Shah maintained that both the parties would work together with mutual understanding. Regarding public meeting of a political party in Lyari, the chief minister said that the PPP could also organise public meeting at Lyari at any time, while the people of Lyari would remain with the PPP. He also said that affected people of Lyari would be given compensation. He clarified that there was no operation in Lyari, but police conducted raids against criminals. On the occasion, Rashdi made it clear that his party had differences with government and would continue to work in the coalition. He said that his party would continue to support Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani. On the occasion, he announced that his party would support the PPP candidate in by-election to be held on a seat fallen vacant in Sanghar due to death of PPP minister Abdul Salam Taheem.
