Balochistan’s key issue is missing persons: CJ

ISLAMABAD: A three member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry resumed hearing of the Balochistan missing persons case.

Chief Justice Chaudhry said that the missing persons were the key issue of Balochistan, adding that evidence exists against the FC.

“There is evidence against the FC and we cannot keep our eyes closed,” Chief Justice said.

While hearing the Balochistan missing persons’ case in the Supreme Court here, CJ said that 15 days have passed, several adjournments were made, but to no effect.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that CCTV video showed that an FC vehicle had picked up three missing persons.

However, IGFC insisted the video didn’t prove that the missing persons were lifted by the FC. According to the IGFC, there were reports that some individuals wearing FC uniform did this act.

He further said that the militants made some 1,900 attacks on FC and none of the attackers could be traced. The Chief Justice intervening asked the IG to keep quite.

On this occasion, an ASI statement regarding lifting of persons by FC was also presented.

The Supreme Court will resume hearing of the case next week at its Quetta registry.
