SC has right to interpret constitution: NA Speaker Fehmida Mirza
ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Fehmida Mirza on Monday said that the Supreme Court had the right to interpret the constitution adding that Prime Minister Gilani should not have said that he would only listen to the speaker.
Speaking to Hamid Mir, the host of Geo News programme ‘Capital Talk’, the National Assembly Speaker did not comment on whether or not the reference against the prime minister would be sent to the Election Commission.
Mirza said the focus of the entire world was on Pakistan which was going through a difficult time. “Our focus should be to ensure that democracy continues and prospers instead of taking steps which would illustrate otherwise.”
Fehmida Mirza’s interview will be broadcast tonight (Monday 14 May) at 8:05PM.
