ISLAMABAD: The United States should respect a Pakistan court's decision to imprison Dr. Shakil Afridi accused of helping the CIA find Osama bin Laden, the Foreign Office spokesman said on Thursday.

"I think as far as the case of Mr. Afridi is concerned, it was in accordance with Pakistani laws and by the Pakistani courts, and we need to respect each other's legal processes," Moazzam Ali Khan told reporters.

Dr. Afridi was accused of running a fake vaccination campaign in which he collected DNA samples, which may have helped the American intelligence agency find Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad.

Foreign spokesman Moazzam Khan said Pakistan had decided to attend Nato’s summit in Chicago due to Afghanistan.

Khan added that Pakistan’s stance on Drone attack was clear and they were unlawful and Islamabad could approach the UN Security Council in this regard.

In reply to a question regarding where Drones were being flown from, Khan replied that Islamabad was not aware of whose land was being used against Pakistan.

Khan further said that the Drone issue would have to be resolved on a bilateral level through dialogue.

In response to statements made by US Senators McCain and Levin regarding the NATO supply route, the Foreign Office spokesman said that their stance of calling the fees extortion was not that of the US governments.
