ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-N chief Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Saturday demanded accountability of the killers of Nawab Akbar Bugti and recovery of missing persons to improve deteriorating situation in the Balochistan province.

"The political leadership, bar associations and civil society should join hands and come forward to initiate a campaign to resolve the two issues," he added.

He was addressing the national conference on "Balochistan issue and its solution", organized by Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan (SCBAP) here.

Suggesting some steps for improving the situation in the province, he said, "We should admit our mistakes and give rights to the Baloch youth."

He said the way Nawab Akbar Bugti was murdered and laid to rest was deplorable. "Even family members were not allowed to attend the funeral of Nawab Sahib".

He said those responsible for the missing persons should be brought to book.

Nawaz Sharif said he and his party would support any initiative for ensuring rule of law and rule of the people. "The sanctity of the Constitution must be ensured," he added.

The dictators should also be held responsible for injustices and wrongdoings they committed during their rule, he added.

He said the Constitution had been violated several times during last 64 years and now political parties, legal fraternity, civil society and media should come out to block such moves.

Terming Musharraf era as the black period, he held the former dictator responsible for all the problems facing the country at present, including terrorism and loadshedding.

He also proposed to constitute a commission comprising representatives of political parties, lawyers community and the civil society which would prepare a report on present situation in Balochistan and suggest ways and means to improve it.
