PTI, PML-N challenge NA speaker’s ruling


ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf have submitted petitions in the Supreme Court challenging the ruling of National Assembly Speaker Fehmida Mirza on Prime Minister Gilani’s conviction by the apex court.

The PML-N’s constitutional petition consists of eight pages and requests that Prime Minister Gilani be stopped from working immediately because he had been disqualified following the Supreme Court verdict in the contempt of court case.

The PTI has also submitted their petition in the Supreme Court against the National Assembly speaker’s ruling.

The petition by the PML-N and PTI name the Federation, Prime Minister, National Assembly speaker and the Election Commission as parties.
