Power shortfall reaches 6,500MW

LAHORE: Due to continue shortage of oil and gas supply to power houses, the electricity shortfall has reached 6,500 MW which has led to an increase in unannounced loadshedding.

According to the sources in Water and Power Ministry, electricity generation is 10,500 MW while demand has increased to 17,000 MW.

Owing to this gap in supply and demand, loadshedding is on its peak. In Lahore and other major cities, residents are without electricity for up to 14 hours a day while power outages in rural areas have reached up to 20 hours.

Water shortage has also been reported in several areas of Lahore owing to this due to loadshedding.
