SC will become controversial if it conducts hearing: PM’s aide
ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on Political Affairs Fawad Chaudhry warned that hearing of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) petitions against the National Assembly speaker’s ruling would make the Supreme Court immensely controversial. Talking to Daily Times, he contended that the speaker’s ruling could not be challenged in any court under the constitution. It is worth mentioning that according to Article 69 of the constitution, courts cannot inquire into proceedings of parliament. Fawad also criticised the PML-N and PTI, saying that both the parties wanted to indulge the judiciary in politics, and urged the Supreme Court not to entertain their petitions. He said the controversy started when the Supreme Court Registrar’s Office favoured the PML-N by entertaining their petition 45 minutes after the court’s official timings. staff report
