Power crisis: Protests erupt in several cities

LAHORE: Frustrated with the increasing hours of loadshedding, residents of several cities have taken to the streets in protest.

Protests turned violent in Faisalabad as the Civil Line office of FESCO was attacked. Protestors caused damage to equipment and broke the windows and doors of the office.

In Multan traders protested against the prolonged power outages, chanted slogans against the government, burnt tyres and blocked traffic.

Protests also continued for the second consecutive day in Kotli, Azad Kashmir. Shops and business remained closed and residents protested in several areas. The local administration had ordered official and non official offices to remain closed in the city following the unrest which took place on Tuesday.

A protest was also held outside the Bannu Press Club. Protestors claimed that they would remain without electricity for up to 22 hours on a daily basis.
