Army deployment underway for election: Spokesman
RAWALPINDI: Military spokesman, Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa said Thursday that the deployment of army personnel for the upcoming general election was underway.
According to Bajwa, 70,000 army soldiers will be deployed throughout the country during the election and 50 army helicopters will also be in use. The helicopters will primarily be used in Balochistan and far flung areas of the country.
Bajwa said that the deployment of the army in Balochistan would be completed by Thursday night, while deployment in Sindh including Karachi and Punjab will begin on Friday.
The military spokesman added that staff from the Election Commission of Pakistan will be present along with the army during the distribution of ballot papers.
