Life on standstill as MQM mourns Azizabad bombings
KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) is observing 'day of peaceful mourning' today (Sunday) across the province of Sindh and requested all citizens to show solidarity against the bombings in Azizabad near its Headquarter 90, leaving three dead and over 45 injured, Geo News reported.
Following Saturday night bombings in Azizabad, MQM Rabita Committee declaring Sunday the day of mourning had made an appeal to the traders to keep their shops shut ant transporters to keep their vehicles off the roads.
The city is facing a complete shutdown, as traders, transporters and fuel station owners responding to the call have suspended their entire business activities today.
Later, Karachi Transport Ittehad announced that all public transports would remain off the roads on Sunday, while Petroleum Dealers Association said that all petrol pumps and CNG stations in the city would remain closed today. Goods Transport Association president Khalid Khan announced that the transportation of all sorts of goods from Karachi to the upcountry would also remain suspended for the day. Meanwhile, All Karachi Tajir Ittehad leader, Akram Rana announced that all shops and business centers working on Sunday would also remain shut for the day.
