Shahbaz takes back plea against paid video
Staff Report
LAHORE: A full bench of the Lahore High Court disposed of a petition by Shahbaz Sharif against the telecasting of a paid content containing a reported conversation between Shahbaz and Justice (r) Malik Muhammad Qayyum, after the counsel for the former chief minister withdrew the petition, saying that relief has been provided.
During the proceedings on Saturday, the counsel for the Election Commission of Pakistan informed the court that a ban had been imposed on the telecast of the impugned conversation.
Counsel for the PPP Ch Aitzaz Ahsan said that it was not a case of that urgency in which interim relief was granted to the petitioner without hearing the other party.
He said this conversion was part of the court record, as the Supreme Court had already accepted this telephonic conversation as evidence and there was no harm in making it public.
In reply, Shahbaz’s counsel Ashtar Ausaf Ali said that relief had been granted to the petition, so he withdrew the petition.
