ATC issues arrest warrants of Musharraf’s spokesman

RAWALPINDI: A special anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday dismissed the interim bail of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) leader and former president Pervez Musharraf’s spokesman Dr Amjad Malik in the lawyers thrashing case, and ordered his arrest. Justice Chaudhry Habibur Rahman was hearing the lawyers thrashing case. During the hearing, Rawalpindi District Bar Secretary Zaheer Arshad Malik told the court that lawyers were beaten up inside the court’s premises at the behest of Dr Amjad. A case was registered against him in the Civil Lines Police Station under the Anti-Terrorism Act. The court summoned Dr Amjad, but he did not appear. The police also prayed that Dr Amjad had neither cooperated with them in the investigation process, nor had appeared before the court; therefore, his bail application be dismissed. On this, the judge directed the police to arrest the accused. agencies
