President irked by non-payment of compensation

KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari has sought a report from the concerned ministry following complaints from some victims of Quetta violence of not being compensated.

President’s spokesperson, Senator Farhatullah Babar said the President also advised the Finance Ministry to look into the complaints and ensure that the promised compensation was paid to the victims without any delay, in accordance with the law and the promises made to the victims.

The President also advised the ministry to look into the system of paying compensation and streamline it further to facilitate the victims and their families.

He also took note of the complaints about inadequate medical treatment to those injured in the violence and directed the concerned officials to ensure proper and adequate medical treatment to the injured. It was the responsibility of the state to look after the victims and their families and the least that needs to be done was to make good the promises made to the victims, the spokesperson quoted the President as saying. app
