Govt assures MQM of steps to improve Karachi situation

KARACHI: Interior Minister Malik Habib Khan has said that the caretaker government is keenly monitoring the law and order situation in Karachi and would address reservations of all the political parties.

Addressing a press conference along with MQM leadership at the party’s headquarters in Karachi on Sunday, Malik Habib said he has been focusing on the situation in Karachi and would improve the security of political parties and leaders. He said a high-level meeting will be held on Monday (today) to address the issue and the reservations of all the political parties. He assured the MQM leaders that the law and order situation in Karachi will be improved at all costs.

The interior minister has said that not only the MQM but other political parties, like the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Jamaat-e-Islami, were also being targeted by the terrorists. He said that correct use of vote would eliminate those who want to sabotage elections. Habib said the government would ensure improvement of security to provide a peaceful atmosphere in the general elections and added that a good turnout in the elections is expected. Speaking on the occasion, MQM leader Farooq Sattar said conspiracies were being hatched to prevent the MQM from taking part in elections, however the party would participate in the electoral process at every cost. agencies
