Leaders, notables turn up at polling stations to cast vote
ISLAMABAD: Eminent personalities, national leaders, former members of national and provincial assemblies as well as other prominent figures of the country turned to polling stations on Saturday to cast their votes and play due role in the formation of upcoming government.
Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and Chief Justice Balochistan High Court Qazi Faiz Esa cast their votes in Quetta NA-259.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Peshawar High Court (PHC) Chief Justice, Justice Dost Muhammad Khan exercised his constitutional right of vote at R. A Bazar Peshawar.
Chief of Army Staff Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani, cast his vote in NA-54 and PP-10 Rawalpindi while Chief Election Commissioner, Justice (retd) Fakharuddin G Ibrahim cast his vote in Defense Karachi.
President Asif Ali Zardari and his daughters cast their votes through postal ballot.
Chairman Senate Syed Nayyar Hussain Bokhari cast his vote at NA-49 Islamabad
Head of Pakistan Muslim League-N, Mian Nawaz Sharif cast his vote at NA-199 Lahore, former chief minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif cast his vote in NA-126 Lahore while Maulana Fazlur Rehman cast his vote at NA-25 D I Khan.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Engineer Shaukatullah exercised his constitutional right of verdict NA-1 Peshawar.
The Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh, Justice (Retd) Zahid Kurban Alavi, cast his vote at Soldier Bazar Karachi. Leader of Awami Muslim League (AML) Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Malik Shakeel Awan cast their vote at different polling stations of NA-55 in Rawalpindi.
Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s mother Begum Shamim Sharif, and his wife Begum Kulsoom Nawaz cast their votes at NA-119 and PP-142 in Lahore.
PML-N leader and candidate Hamza Shahbaz Sharif cast his vote at NA-126 Model Town Lahore.
Renowned cricketer Wasim Akram cast his vote at NA-122 Samanabad Lahore.
Former Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan and a PML-N candidate for PP-149 cast his vote at UC-86, Shaam Nagar.
PPP Punjab president cast his vote NA-130 Lahore. Jamat-e-Islami senior leader, Liaqat Baloch cast his vote at NA-126 Lahore.
Former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, cast his vote at NA-51 Gujjar Khan while former opposition leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan cast his vote at his native town Chakri.
PML-N candidates Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, Malik Abrar, Sardar Naseem; PPP candidates Chaudhry Iftikhar, Israr Abbasi and Zammurd Khan; PTI’s Hina Manzoor and Raja Rashid Hafeez visited their respective polling stations in NA-54, 55 and 56 and exercised their constitutional right. app
