Imran demands recount with NADRA fingerprint verification on 4 constituencies

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman, Imran Khan has demanded recounting with fingerprint verification on four constituencies conducted by NADRA. The PTI chairman did not mention which constituencies had been recommended by them.

Imran Khan’s recorded message was played during a PTI news conference here on Wednesday. Khan said if the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) failed to accept their demands within three days, protests would be held. “We are giving a three day deadline to the ECP to conduct fingerprint based recounting on four sample seats. If proven correct we allege rigging on 25 seats,” Khan said.

Khan added that for the time in Pakistan’s history people came out in such large numbers to vote and they had reservations which needed to be addressed. The PTI chairman said it was the responsibility of the ECP to address these reservations. “If you (ECP) fail to address their reservations, these people will not vote again and would be deterred from the democratic process.” Khan further said that the ECP had failed to meet expectations.

On the formation of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government, Khan said this was the perfect opportunity for the PTI to set the example of ‘Naya Pakistan’ in the province.

Commenting on his meeting with PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif, Khan said that the two still had political differences but had decided to work together on major issues plaguing the country such as terrorism.
