MQM exploring options regarding NA-250 re-polling
KARACHI: The MQM has announced that it is exploring options after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) dismissed the petition seeking re-polling in the entire NA-250 constituency and was consulting legal experts.
In a news conference, MQM leader Raza Haroon said all citizens in NA-250, PS-112 and PS-113 should have been treated equally and given the right to cast their vote. Haroon said this could have been an opportunity for the ECP to address allegations by holding elections in the entire constituency.
“Right to franchise should have been protected and reinforced,” Haroon said.
Earlier on Friday, the ECP dismissed the petition seeking re-polling in the entire NA-250 constituency. The ECP announced that polling would be carried out on 43 polling stations in NA-250 on May 19 and the army would be deployed for security reasons.
