No decision yet on joining new government: JUI-F chief
ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that negotiations with the PML-N on the formation of federal and provincial governments is underway, but it would take some time to decide.
He was briefing the media after meeting a PML-N delegation, headed by Raja Zafarul Haq, on Saturday.
PML-N’s Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Khawaja Muhammad Khan Hoti were also present on the occasion.
Fazl said that his party had neither accepted the mandate of the PTI nor had made any contact with its leadership. He said that power politics was not a joke, but a serious issue, and his party was tackling it very seriously.
The PML-N had offered the JUI-F to join the federal government during an earlier meeting between Shahbaz Sharif and Fazlur Rehman.
It is learnt that the JUI-F has demanded chairmanship of the Kashmir Committee, three federal and two provincial ministries. Fazl was aspirant to clinch the office of the Kashmir Committee chairman, as this post is equivalent to that of a federal ministry.
Fazl had been appointed as the chairman of the committee during the era of Benazir Bhutto. He undertook several foreign visits, enjoyed perks and privileges, and resided at the Minister’s Enclave. Sources said that Nawaz Sharif would be informed about the conditions put forward by the JUI-F today (Sunday) in Lahore. Nawaz will take the final decision in this connection after consultation with close aides. agencies
