Power crisis to be addressed on war footing: Nawaz Sharif

LAHORE: Loadshedding continues for several hours in cities across the country as Pakistan struggles to overcome its power crisis.

The PML-N president Nawaz Sharif who is in line to become the country’s next prime minister was presiding over a high level meeting summoned in Raiwind to discuss the energy crisis.

Nawaz said that the issue of loadashedding would be addressed on war footing as he put emphasis on bringing Pakistan’s national institutions on par with global standards.

“The situation requires issues to be addressed with seriousness,” Nawaz said.

According to Nawaz, new heads would be appointed in all autonomous national institutions. He further said that the boards of PIA, WAPDA, Railways, OGDCL and other intuitions would also be changed.
