Punjab Assembly session on 29th

LAHORE: The first session of the newly elected Punjab Assembly has been summoned on May 29.

Punjab Assembly Secretary Maqsood Ahmed on Tuesday issued a notice to summon a meeting of the newly elected members of the assembly on May 29. The session will continue for three days. The secretary said that all the newly elected members would be administered oath on the first day of the session. The speaker and deputy speaker of the Punjab Assembly would be elected on the second day, and on the third day of the session the leader of the House would be elected. Foolproof security arrangements would be made on the occasion and guests will not be allowed to attend the session.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has secured majority in the provincial assembly with 240 seats followed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) which has 20 won seats. The Punjab Assembly secretary said it was a constitutional need that the assembly session be convened within 21 days after the elections, therefore, it was vital to call it before June 1. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will also issue a notification of the MPAs elect. inp
