Nawaz to continue BB’s policy of reconciliation
* PML-N chief says time for political leadership and state institutions to join hands to overcome challenges being faced by country
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-N chief Nawaz Sharif said on Wednesday that the policy of reconciliation initiated by former prime minister Benazir Bhutto will be continued by his government.
Talking to media after a meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari, the PML-N chief said it is time for the political leadership and state institutions to join hands to overcome the challenges being faced by the country. President Zardari felicitated Nawaz on the success of his party in the general elections and wished him good luck for his new government. Spokesperson to the President Senator Farhatullah Babar said the meeting was held at the Presidency after the luncheon banquet hosted for visiting Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.
The PML-N president was also invited among other political leaders to the Presidency for the event. President Zardari expressed confidence that after political transition the new government would successfully address the problems and issues facing the country. Nawaz said people have elected him to serve the nation and he will make all possible efforts to come up to their expectations. “We have to protect the interests of Pakistan with the support of people.” Replying to a question, the PML-N chief said Asif Ali Zardari is am elected president and he did not demand his resignation. Meanwhile, President Zardari said that he already considered Nawaz Sharif the prime minister of Pakistan. The president said Nawaz Sharif will enjoy full cooperation from the Presidency as prime minister. agencies
