PML-N continues to bag hotshots

* Pir Pagara meets Shahbaz, accepts offer to join govt

* Ex-PM Jamali throws weight behind PML-N chief

LAHORE/KARACHI: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) continues to make breakthroughs, as it has now managed to get the support of former prime minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and PML-Functional chief Pir Pagara Syed Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi.

Jamali on Saturday formally announced to join the PML-N during his meeting with PML-N President Nawaz Sharif in Raiwind.

Nawaz welcomed the former PM and said his party would try to fulfil the hopes of the Baloch people. He also said the PML-N would come up with a plan to introduce reforms for Balochistan. Jamali felicitated Nawaz on his party’s success in the general election, and said his decision of joining the PML-N was not based on personal interest but on national interest, because the country was facing a lot of problems, which could be solved through practical steps and with the efforts of all political forces.

During the meeting, both leaders discussed the overall political situation and other matters of mutual interest. According to sources, Jamali said the issues of Sindh, Balochistan and load shedding – the main issue of the country – came under discussion, and they decided to overcome the issues in the near future with the help of political parties.

When asked what was his condition for joining the PML-N, Jamali said he didn’t set any condition; rather he joined the party in national interest.

Over in Karachi, upcoming Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif held a meeting with Pir Pagara at his residence and formally offered the PML-F party to join the government in the Centre, which the latter accepted.

Pir Pagara, on occasion, stressed the need for unifying all factions of the Pakistan Muslim League for the betterment of the country.

He said he had been supporting Nawaz Sharif in the past, and would support him in the future as well.

After the meeting, Shahbaz said that alliance with the PML-F would be in favour of the people of Sindh, and added that he had invited Pir Pagara to Raiwind and Islamabad to attend Nawaz’s oath-taking ceremony.

Shahbaz reiterated his party’s resolve to end the energy crisis and hours-long power load shedding in the country.

He said that the previous government had done nothing to overcome the energy crisis.

He said that after coming into power, his party would immediately take every possible step to produce electricity, and added that Thar coal power project would be activated. staff report/agencies
