Pakistan’s Prime Minister to be elected on June 5

ISLAMABAD: Newly elected members of the National Assembly will take oath on June 1 as a summary has been sent by interim Prime Minister Khoso to President Zardari to convene the session of the lower house of the parliament.

Nomination papers for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of National Assembly would also be submitted on June 1. The Speaker and Deputy speaker would be elected on June 3 while nomination papers for the post of prime minister would be submitted on June 4.

The new prime minister of Pakistan would be elected on June 5.

Meanwhile, Governor Punjab has convened the session of the provincial assembly on June 1.

Following the oath taking of newly elected MPAs, separate sessions would be convened for the election of Speaker, Deputy Speaker and Leader of the House.

Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Najam Sethi said on Sunday that Shahbaz Sharif would take oath of chief minister on June 6th.

Session of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has been convened on May 19 at 10:00 am, said a notification issued here today.

According to the notification, newly elected MPAs would take oath during the session while chief minister, Speaker and the Deputy Speaker would also be elected during the same session of the provincial assembly.
