SC seeks record of power distribution
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has summoned the managing directors of PEPCO and NTDC on May 31 along with a report about the distribution of electricity from May 21 onward.
The court also directed them that if its May 21 order has not been complied with in letter and spirit then an explanation should also be furnished as to why legal action should not be initiated against the functionaries responsible. According to the details, the PEPCO and NTDC managing directors assured the court that arrangements have been made for supply of furnace oil and as a result, the system has started generating electricity. They also assured adequate steps would be taken in the near future for further increase in the generation capacity.
Based on this assurance and after hearing other parties in the case, the court had ordered that whatever electricity is generated should be distributed equally amongst the consumers, both domestic and industrial, so that no one raises objection on the basis of discrimination. staff report
