PML-N grabs 35 reserved NA seats for women, 6 for minorities

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) bagged 35 reserved seats for women and six reserved for minorities on Tuesday, which increases its strength to 186 in the National Assembly.

According to a notification issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), by securing the biggest number of reserved seats for women and minorities, PML-N now possesses simple majority in a House of 342. There are 60 reserved seats for women and 10 for the minorities in the National Assembly. Meanwhile, the Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians’ (PPPP) tally in the Lower House of parliament rose to 40 after it pocketed seven reserved seats for women and one for minorities, followed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf whose strength in the House increased to 35 after it secured six seats for women and one for minorities. The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) got four women seats and one minority seat and now has 23 seats in the NA.
