LAHORE - Punjab police on Saturday issued a threat advisory to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Aleem Khan stating to have received an information about possible attack on PTI Chairman Imran Khan during rally to be held on Sunday in Lahore.
Police department has urged the party leaders to cancel the Lahore rally as a terror attack from Tehreek-e-Taliban’s Sajna Group is feared. The letter further stated that the party would be responsible in case of any untoward situation.
Meanwhile, the PTI has announced to hold warm up rally against corruption to congregate the supporters ahead of Sunday’s public gathering. Preparations for the PTI rally at Mall Road have been entered into final phase as the music system, banners and chair arrangements have been done.
Generators have also been placed for the lights whereas the stage would be made in front of the Punjab Assembly. The local administration has asked the PTI to change the location but the Punjab government spokesman stated that the PTI is adamant to hold the rally on the exact area.
The spokesperson assured that the government will fulfill its responsibility by providing security as more than 9000 police personnel would be deployed at the venue while a separate enclosure for women would also be arranged.
