ISLAMABAD: Leader of the House in Senate Raja Zafarul Haq has said that People of Pakistan, its government and forces consider Saudi Arabia a friend of all weather.

International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) plays commendable role and services to unite Muslims, he said while addressing the seminar on IIUI's role in strengthening Pak-Arab relations with specific reference to Saudi Arabia. The seminar also graced by Rector of Riyadh-based Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University and IIUI Pro-Chancellor Prof Dr Sulainman Abdullah Aba Al-Khail as guest of honour.

On the occasion, Ambassador of Egypt to Pakistan Dr Masoom Yasinzai, Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, Saudi delegation, researchers, intellectuals and faculty members also attended the seminar. In his address, Zafarul Haq extended high gratitude to Saudi delegation on behalf of the government and its people on visiting IIUI and said people of Pakistan has deep rooted spiritual, religious and historical association with Saudi Arabia.

He said that IIUI was a symbol of unity of Muslims in Pakistan as the university was nurturing youth of Muslims with quality of education. He was of the view that IIUI's contributions particularly in Central Asian States for revival of Islam were worthwhile. He also hoped that government of both the countries would extend their cooperation for progress and development of the university.

He also proposed the formation of a joint forum comprising of IIUI, Imam Muhammad University Saudi Arabia, Al-Azhar University of Egypt and IIU Malaysia for the unity of Muslims.

Addressing the seminar, Dr Sulaiman Aba Al-Khail said that enemy of Islam has set a plot of conspiracies and trying to weaken the Muslims. He urged Muslim states to put internal differences aside and seek a way of unity and brotherhood. He was of the view that universities were the custodians of the religious and intellectual heritage of the Muslims, can play a key role for unity in the world.

Dr Sulaiman also asked scholars and researchers to play their vital role for the welfare and development of the Muslims. He said that universities provide peaceful environment for quality education, training and character building of the youth, so that they can present fine example of Muslim character.

Dr Sulaiman Aba Al-Khail said that the anti-Islam elements with the use of media resources were trying to create chaos and anarchy in Muslims societies who can be defeated with solidarity and harmony. Sharif Shaheen said the services of IIUI in promotion of Muslim brotherhood, solidarity and unity are highly acknowledged worldwide.
