RAWALPINDI: Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed on Sunday said that the next 120 days are crucial for the country.
Rasheed speaking during a luncheon hosted at his Lal Haveli residence, also announced that he would contest the upcoming general election from NA-55 and NA-56 constituencies in Rawalpindi.
The Supreme Court (SC) has formed a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe the wealth of the family of Nawaz Sharif after the verdict was issued in the Panama Papers case.
The JIT has been tasked to complete a report within sixty days. However, he believes that it might take much longer but the next four months are crucial for politics in the country.
He said that there are two capitals of politics, the first is Karachi and the other is Rawalpindi and both cities have played a crucial role in the country’s politics.
He said that there are only two real opposition leaders in the country. He decried the political revenge sought against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan and accused that those filing cases against him are involved in corruption.
Expressing support for the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he said that Pakistan’s relation with China is everlasting. “Islam is our way of live and I hope we are able to eliminate poverty from the country,” he said.
