PTI turning to courts because they can’t beat Nawaz in elections: Ahsan Iqbal

LAHORE: Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Saturday said that since the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) can not defeat PML-N in the elections, the party has turned to courts to fulfill their agendas.

“PTI is turning to courts to achieve political motives since they know they can not defeat us in elections. PTI’s anti-Nawaz agenda is being fulfilled via the courts,” Ahsan Iqbal said while speaking at a party conference in Lahore.

He complained that the judiciary is being part of political tensions and that such an environment is “dangerous” for the country. “It is greatly regrettable if a country’s chief justice is being criticised by politicians in speeches,” he added.

The minister further said: “For 70 years, we have been playing hide and seek, which now needs to end. Mistrust of the ruling government is being promoted to undermine our works and efforts of the past 5 years.”

Former PM Nawaz Sharif also spoke on occassion saying that “whatever has happened to us has happened, but we would not accept Pakistan to bear the same fate as us. The Constitution and law in the country has always been ridiculed.”
