Opp leader rejects PML-N’s ‘unconstitutional’ budget

ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah on Wednesday rejected the budget 2018 presented by the PML-N terming it as ‘unconstitutional’.

“The federal government had no right to propose the budget for the financial year 2018-19 since its tenure is about to end in a month. Such a move is unconstitutional and I reject it,” Khursheed said while addressing a national assembly session.

The opp leader added that the PML-N budget consists of two portions; one is the revenue which he is “okay” with, but Khursheed said that the government is proposing expenditures of one year, which is unacceptable.

“This is unconstitutional. If the mandate is not respect, then the situation would get out of control,” Khursheed added.

He also lauded the Sindh government for spending on improvements to the health sector, while he said that the governments in Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have under-performed.

Khursheed also said that the assemblies would be dissolved on May 31 and that the elections can not be held after 90 days of dissolution.
