'Who will solve problems if not democratic govt'


ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry during hearing of Rental Power Plants (RPPs) case remarked that the problems are to be solved by democratic government, Geo News reported.

A Supreme Court bench headed by the chief justice is hearing the case. Abdul Hafeez Pirzada, counsel for Raishma Power Plant referred to the deteriorating law and order situation in the country.

During course of arguments of Hafeez Pirzada, the CJ remarked that if the democratic government would not solve the issues then who else. 'The government has the mandate and judiciary's struggle against November 3 emergency rule was for the rule of law.'

Khawaja Tariq Rahim, the counsel for the Ministry of Water and Power began his arguments after RPPs counsels concluded theirs.
