Bugti heirs to be let in on commission


ISLAMABAD: Federal cabinet under the chair of Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday reviewed the implementation of Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan package to ensure due rights to the province.

The prime minister directed that the heirs of Sardar Akbar Bugti be contacted to ascertain whether they want Supreme Court Commission or it is fine with the High Court Commission.

The meeting held at the Prime Minister Secretariat was apprised that 61 policy decisions had been taken in this regard as 80 percent of the package had been implemented.

The meeting was informed that a special quota of 1200 scholarships and 600 additional scholarships by the Higher Education Commission have been allocated for Baloch youth.

Also the rationalization of royalty and gas development charges have been amicably settled.

The Cabinet was informed that judicial inquiry into allotment of Gwadar land has been implemented.

The appointments at Gwadar port in Bs-1 to 16 have been undertaken from locals. Also, out of 40 contracts 25 have been awarded to local contractors in Gwadar, while two fishing jetties at Gwadar are near completion.

It was informed that development packages for Sui and Dera Bugti of Rs. 4 billion were being implemented.

Out of six percent Balochistan quota with a total of 6381 posts, 1934 have been filled while the rest are in the process.

The government relaxed qualification of age and height for Baloch youths in recruitments of coast guard.

The Cabinet was informed that out of total 27 resolutions of Provincial Assembly, 20 have been implemented while seven are in the process.

The construction of cantonments has been stopped at Kohlu and Sui and the Army has been replaced by Frontier Constabulary.

Also the placement of FC under Chief Minister was being considered. (APP)
