PM challenges PML-N to topple government
*Gilani says anyone who has proofs of corruption against government should go to courts * PPP will move a resolution in Punjab Assembly for new province
KALA SHAH KAKU: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Saturday said that “we challenge the rival political parties to try their utmost to topple the government, adding that “we are primed for that”.
Talking to the media after the inauguration of second satellite Paksat-1R in Kala Shah Kaku, he said that if anybody had wishful thinking about toppling the government, then he should come forward and try his delusion.
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is the only party, which has roots in the four provinces, he said, adding that who else could deliver better than the PPP. He said his party believed in democracy.
To a question about corruption allegations, he wondered it was a strange phenomenon that every political party was in power but only the federal government was being blamed for corruption. He agreed that corruption had got deep roots in society but it did not happen only in Islamabad rather it affected the four provinces. He said his party was working on it. He said if anybody has proof of corruption then he should go to the courts because the judiciary and the media of Pakistan were absolutely free.
Gilani said that every diplomatic effort was being made to improve Pak-US relations. He said that the Pakistan government was never consulted or intimated before drone attacks.
“We are not among those who bow down (before the US) on a single telephone call, but we have resisted all those demands which were against national interest,” he observed.
The prime minister said that the PPP government had never permitted the US drone attacks on Pakistani soil.
To another query, the prime minister said that the PPP supported the demand of southern Punjab as a new province because it was in accordance with the wishes of the people. He said Nawaz Sharif had supported creation of a new province in his speech in Dera Ghazi Khan. He said that PPP would move a resolution in the Punjab Assembly and everybody would come to know that who supported it. He said a separate province was the longstanding demand of the people of southern Punjab and it would be created with the support of the people.
On Imran Khan’s statement regarding declaration of assets and liabilities by politicians, he said that Imran might be unaware of the fact that every candidate had to declare his or her assets before contesting the election. staff report/ app
