Eid-ul-Adha celebrated with religious fervour
ISLAMABAD: Eid-ul-Azha was celebrated throughout the country with religious fervor and enthusiasm to pay homage to the great sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).
The day dawned with special Eid sermons where Ulema stressed for unity of Muslim Ummah and prayers were held for the prosperity and progress of the country.
People prayed to Allah Almighty in mosques and Eidgahs for the solidarity, prosperity and integrity of the country and for the liberation of occupied territories, including the Held Jammu and Kashmir.
After Eid prayers, the faithful slaughtered camels, cows, goats, rams and sheep to revive the Sunnah of Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim (AS). The process will continue till Wednesday evening.
The Muslims also slaughtered animals after the Eid prayers and then distributed the meat among the deserving people besides their kin and dear ones.
Special arrangements were made for Eid prayers at over 300 places in twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The biggest Eid congregation in the Federal Capital was held at Faisal Mosque, where thousands faithful prayed for blessing of the Almighty Allah.
In Lahore Eid prayers' congregations were held in all major mosques of the city with main congregations at Badshahi Masjid and Data Ganj Bakhsh Masjid.
In Karachi, Eid prayers congregations were held at over 550 Eidgahs, mosques and grounds of the city. The main congregations were held at Nishtar Park, Polo Ground, Memon Masjid, Jamia Binnoria, Masjid Baitul Mukarram, Shah Khurasan Iranian and Masjid Bou Turab.
In Peshawar, major Eid prayers congregations were held at Markazi Eidgah, Sunehri Masjid and Masjid Mahabat Khan.
In Quetta, Eid prayer congregations were held at over 300 places.
Scholars from different schools of thought delivered special sermons to highlight the significance of the day and the sublime objective of the sacrifice rendered by Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) centuries ago.
