Parliamentary Committee approves three names for Supreme Court


ISLAMABAD: The Parliamentary Committee on judges appointment has approved three out of four names for the Supreme Court, Geo News reported. The committee could not agree on the name of Justice (retired) Athar Saeed.

The committee met under the chairmanship of Senator Nayyar Hussain Bukhari. Speaking to the media following the meeting Bukhari said that the committee had approved the names of Justice Ijaz Afzal, Justice Chaudhry Ijaz and Justice Gulzar Ahmed for the Supreme Court.

Bukhari added that Sheikh Azmat Saeed has been approved as the Lahore High Court Chief Justice while Justice Dost Muhammed had been approved for Chief Justice Peshawar High Court.

Ad-hoc judges of the Islamabad High Court Justice Muhammed Anwar Khan Kassi and Justice Riaz Ahmed Khan were made permanent while Shaukat Siqqiqui and Azeem Afridi were made additional judges.
