CM orders crackdown against kite businesses


LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of incident of death of a 30-year-old man due to a stray kite string in Subzazar area and suspended DSP, SHO and TMO, Geo News reported.

The CM also ordered a crackdown on people associated with kite busness. He was heading a meeting in provincial capital. He said the local administration would be held responsible if such an incident took place again.

A man died due to a stray kite string while the ban on kite-flying in the provincial capital was witnessed to be flouted in many areas of Lahore during Eid holidays.

The ill-fated man, who was later identified as Mohammad Atif, 30, a resident of Kot Lakhpat, was going to Social Security Hospital on his bike to deliver medicines he had bought for his mother who was admitted to the said hospital. He was passing through Mandi Stop Multan Road when a stray kite string cut his throat. Some locals with the help of Rescue 1122 rushed him to a local hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
