Poor peoples money spent on rental power project: CJ


ISLAMABAD: A Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice (CJ) Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry heard the Rental Power Case on Tuesday, Geo News reported.

During his remarks CJ said the amount of money spent on the project belonged to the underprivileged who could not even afford meals twice a day.

The attorney representing the Ministry of Water and Power, Tariq Rahim said the approval for the rental power projects was give by the Finance Ministry.

The ministry had assured the payment of the fund but backed out. Rahim said the advance was increased from 7 to 14 percent in a bid to save the paid amount to the rental power and investment.

On this occasion, member of the apex court bench, Justice Khilji Arif in his remarks termed the rental power affairs a criminal negligence instead of just negligence.
