A full bench of Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry heard the Rental Power Case today.

During the proceedings, attorney representing the Ministry of Water and Power Tariq Rahim told the court that the amount of Rs2.5 billion has been recovered from Reshma Power Plant.

On this, the CJ said that the actual amount is of Rs4.5 billion which should be recovered by tomorrow (Friday) along with the mark-up.

On this occasion, member of the apex court bench Justice Khilji Arif asked that why the amount has not been recovered by now when it was given to the company against loan, and that is why the court is bound to think that it was done to benefit a particular party.

Later, the SC in its written order stated that the Reshma Rental Power Plant failed to work according to the agreement and that is why the entire amount of Rs4.5 billion along with the mark-up should be recovered by Friday.
