MQM announces formation of CEC, names of members


KARACHI: Muttehida Qaumi Movement (MQM) formally announced on Sunday formation of Central Executive Committee with its members drawn from Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtoonkhaw, Balochistan and Sindh.

MQM chief Altaf Hussain had announced his decision of constituting CEC in March last however Dr. Farooq Sattar formally declared it today with names of CEC members at a press conference at Lal Qila Ground, Azizabad, Karachi.

Farooq Sattar, flanked by other members of MQM Coordination Committee, said the CEC comprises of members hailing from all the provinces and nationalities and minorities as well and added that it would assist MQM Coordination Committee and the party in organizational matters, policy-making and preparation of manifesto.

CEC would meet every three month at least once and the Rabita (coordination) Committee would preside over its meeting, he added.

Farooq Sattar claimed that MQM believes in national unity, religious harmony and tolerance and had been practically struggling to achieve this objective. "The CEC members would work in their respective areas to this end and also create awareness among the masses against feudalism.

The CEC members, who were also present at the press conference, include Ajmal Dehlvi, Pir Syed Madad Ali Shah of Ranipur, Pir Ghulam Mujadid Sarhandi of Matiari, former cricketer Sarfraz Nawaz, Mian Hakim Khan Mianwali, Ms. Nigahat Zahri of Chaghi, TV actor Anwar Iqbal, Barrister Habib-u-Rehman, Babar Ghauri, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Khushbakht Shujaat, Dr. Laila Parveen Hazarwal, Syed Shamshad Jaffri of Multan, Senator Ahmed Ali, Senator Tahir Hussain, Senator Abdul Haseeb, Khuwaja Sohail, Dr. Noor Muhammad Shah of Naushehro Feroze, MNA Waseem Akhtar, Sindh minister Adil Siddiqui, Rauf Siddiqui, Faisal Sabzwari, Dr. Ayub Shaikh, MPA Ms. Hir Ismail Soho of Thatta, Rasheed Masih, Dr. Ashraf Vohra, Raja Azam Khan, Ahmed Salim Siddiqui, Nisar Ahmed Qamar, Tahir Khokhar of AJK and others.
