NRO review case: SC summons Kamal Azfar on Tuesday
ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court hearing the NRO review case called for the submission of a written reply today by the government relating to the federation’s earlier lawyer Kamal Azfar having received threats, who also summoned on Tuesday.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heading SC 17-member full court today was hearing the NRO review case here.
Pakistan People’s Party federal ministers, members of the parliament and other leaders were also present in the court room.
When the government petition nominating Babar Awan as their lawyer was presented, the government nominated lawyer said that by this time several developments have taken place—Latif Khosa, who had replaced Kamal Azfar, has now become Punjab Governor.
The judges asked few questions relating to the reasons for the removal of Kamal Azfar and also gave Kamal Azfar’s letter to Babar Awan for reading it. Later, the court asked Babar Awan to submit a written reply of the federation as regards to threats received by Kamal Azfar besides the court also asked him to explain why the Attorney General could not argue this case on behalf of the federation. Meanwhile, the hearing was put off.
