* Says seeking of donations by PPP govt disgraced nation
Staff Report
LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday that he had taken the memo issue to the Supreme Court for the sake of the people and Pakistan, as it should be made clear who was behind all this mess.
Addressing yellow cabs distribution ceremony at Al-Hamra on Thursday, Nawaz said that it should be revealed who was behind the whole episode.
Regarding the Yellow Cab Scheme, he said that the nation should set its direction and should not support the policy of accepting foreign aid because it was an insult to the nation. He said that the PPP government had started seeking donations for people during floods, which disgraced the nation. He said that he always avoided character assassination and asked other politicians to stop blame game, adding that he did not believe in amassing assets because the Pakistani people were his asset.
Nawaz said that he spent seven years in exile and nobody asked him how was he living, adding that president Pervez Musharraf could not prove anything against him and as a last resort he (Musharraf) implicated him in hijacking case.
