KESC announces up to 12hr loadshedding

KARACHI: Despite the assurances of Governor Sindh and Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources the natural gas supply to Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) could not be increased, Geo News reported.

The decision to end the prolonged load shedding in industrial areas from Monday was taken during a high level meeting at Governor House on Saturday, which was attended by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan, Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Dr Asim Hussain and high officials of SSGC, PSO, and KESC.

The meeting decided that SSGC would provide 180 MMCFD gas to KESC to end the ongoing load shedding, but the actual gas supply to date was only 120 MMCFD.

The KESC spokesman told Geo News that a reduction in power outages was tied with an increase in gas supply to the power utility in an agreement struck in the Governor House, but in the given the circumstances loadshedding was inevitable.
