Sindhi Culture Day observed in Dallas

DALLAS, Texas: To celebrate Sindhi Culture Day a festive and colorful evening event was hosted in Dallas Texas with by the Pakistani expatriates here.

Pakistanis from all ethnic backgrounds participated in the festivities with a same fervour.

Local community activist Mr. Moazam Ali Bhangar organized the program.

Mayor of Paris Texas Dr. Arjumand Hashmi, Pakistan People’s Party North Texas Dallas President Raja Zahid Khanzada, All Pakistan Muslim League USA’s Vice President Javed Siddiqui and men and women from all walks of life attended the event.

Women also equally participated in the celebrations by wearing traditional dresses and said the Culture Day is a good step to promote handicrafts like Ajrak and Sussi.

A musical program was also arranged on this occasion in which not only Sindhi but also folk and national songs of other languages were performed.

A number of men and women were wearing Ajrak and Sindhi cap on this occasion. Paris mayor Dr. Arjumand Hashmi while talking to Geo/ Jang correspondent expressed her joy at this celebration. He said that this program provided great opportunity for our youth to get in touch with their true culture and traditions, which is equally entertaining for children and adults.

Event organizer and prominent personality Moazam Ali Bhangar said that culture of Sindh dates as back as 5,000 years. He said Sindh is rich in culture and tradition and is a soil of peace-lovers and a Land of the Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, Lal Shahbaz Qalandar and Sachal Sarmast, Celebrating this day educates our coming generation on the richness of our culture. He said organizing the event was a small endeavor on his part.

Sindhi and other folk and local songs were presented on which attendees participated with folk dances. Ho Jamalo was presented at the end, which people thoroughly enjoyed and danced to. A sumptuous dinner was also served before the event.
