Dictator's unconstitutional step harmed the country: Shahbaz
LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif said on Saturday that November 3 is a black day in the history of Pakistan when a dictator took an unconstitutional step to merely save his rule five years ago that harmed the country, Geo News reported.
The Chief Minister said that General (retd) Pervez Musharraf took an unconstitutional step by declaring emergency on November 3, 2007. The entire nation stood united against his unlawful action that caused irreparable damage to the country.
He continued saying that the country would have been progressing had the dictator not ended Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government unlawfully.
It is pertinent to mention that the lawyers across the country are observing the black day today against the proclamation of emergency by former president Pervez Musharraf on Novemnber 3, 2007.
Black flags have been hoisted on the bar buildings, while the lawyers wore black armbands. The lawyers are observing partial strike in the subordinate courts. The bars at Gojra, Muzaffargarh, Mandi Bahauddin, Multan, Khanewal, Karachi city court and Malir court like other towns/cities observing black day, hoisted black flags on the buildings, wore black armbands and boycotted the courts as well.
Former military ruler Musharraf had declared emergency on November 03, five years back. He had suspended the constitution and imposed curbs on the media. Musharraf also relieved Supreme Court and higher judiciary judges after imposition of emergency.
