Parking of oil tankers in Zulfikarabad from next week

KARACHI: Administrator Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed said that the parking of oil tankers in Zulfikarabad Oil Tankers Terminal (ZOT) would start next week on temporary basis whereas 50 acres more land from Board of Revenue had been gained.He said this while addressing a high level meeting held in ZOT on Monday.
The meeting was attended by representative nominated by Supreme Court, Faisal Saud, Director General Technical Services, Altaf G Memon, Senior Director Transport & Communication, Muhammad Ather, Project Director Ansar Zaidi, and other officers.
The administrator said that following the directives of Supreme Court a high level meeting was called for shifting of oil tankers used to park in Shireen Jinnah Colony in which it was decided that the fleet of oil tankers under the arrangements of PSO would start parking their oil tankers in ZOT on temporary basis.
He said the construction work of oil tankers parking terminal was underway speedily in which gradual parking of tankers was being started.
He said after including 50 acres, the land of ZOT would consist of 200 acres and this would be the biggest oil tankers parking terminal of Pakistan.
Oil Tankers Association on this occasion requested the administrator Karachi for foolproof security and setting up of a police kiosk at the terminal. The representatives of association also referred to the point that the issue of parking of oil tankers in Shirin Jinnah Colony would not be solved even after start of tankers’ parking in ZOT as the tankers have to stay in Shireen Jinnah Colony for 5 to 7 days due to unnecessary delay of proceedings by Custom Department therefore, they asked to refer this problem to the Supreme Court.
