Pakistan congratulates President Obama
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday warmly felicitated his US counterpart Barack Obama on his re-election as the president of the United States, saying he was confident their countries’ relations would “continue to prosper”. In a message to Obama, President Zardari described his election to a second term as a clear reaffirmation by the American people of their confidence in his leadership and a powerful endorsement of Obama’s vision for his country. The president expressed the hope that the relationship between Pakistan and the US would continue to prosper during President Obama’s new term in office. He stated he was confident the leadership of the two countries would be able to further deepen and broaden bilateral relations on the basis of mutual respect and mutual interests. The president said he looked forward to working closely with President Obama towards the shared objective of peace, security, stability and prosperity in the region. Islamabad and Washington have been seeking to improve their relationship in recent months. staff report
